Yummy apples

Dan was eating an apple and Dylan was interested so Daddy shared. Every time we would pull the apple away he would start yelling. He loved it. Now he gets a little taste when we are enjoying apples.

Emmett's Birthday Party

Our good friends Jake and Melissa have 3 kids - Emmett, Molly and Finley. Emmett turned 3 recently and they had his birthday party at the ice rink - they are a big hockey family. I have been ice skating once when I was in Girl Scouts. Dan has never gone ice skating. Ever.:)

Emmett seemed like a pro. He really enjoyed it!

Afterwards we went to Hofbrauhaus. Of course we took a picture for Opa to see!

Fabric covered cardboard box

My house is a mess. I am trying to figure out how to organize and manage all of Dylan's toys since he got a few for Christmas and some hand me downs from people from work. Again, enter: Pinterest. I Pinterest searched a way to use things that I already had in my house and I found a good tutorial for covering diaper boxes in fabric.

I found this one: DIY On The Cheap

and this one: Mandy's Krafty Exploits

to be most useful. I love these because they don't have to be perfect. Here's my version.....

Supplies:
*Cardboard box (I used the box that paper comes in at work)
*3 yards of fabric
*Fabric fusion glue
*Rotary cutter
*Rotary cutting mat
*Ruler

1. First I cut the fabric down to 3 separate yards. Then I laid it on the floor, wrong side up. I put the box right in the middle. I drew a 2 inch line diagonal from each corner.

2. Then I drew 2 straight lines coming out each end at the end of my 2 inch line. Does that make sense? :) I did this for each corner.

3. Cut off the 4 squares that you just made and cut on the diagonal line.

4. Then I glued up the long sides to the side of the box (I really suck at taking pictures)

5. Before I glued up the short sides, I folded over the edge so that there was no raw edge showing. After I did this, I realized that I could've just folded the entire edge over instead of a tiny bit....my way was a mess.

6. After all of that, I had a fabric covered box!

My next project is to either make a red liner for it or cover the lids from the box in red...I am leaning toward covering the lid in red. No measuring that way :)

Valentine's Day

Dylan's first Valentine's Day!

He gave his whole class Toy Story valentine's :)

He has been boycotting naps - he takes about 2 half hour naps every day and then falls asleep on the way home. So I quickly wash bottles and throw together dinner the first 30-45 minutes I'm home while he's sleeping and then wake him up. Anyway, we took these pictures after we woke him up so he wasn't very happy.

Dylan - 5 months

Dylan Buddy!

5 months have gone by. Crazy!

*He found his thumb.  Last month he found his hands and couldn't keep them out of his mouth.  Now he has singled out his thumb and in it goes.  Just like Uncle Kevin and Aunt Kelly!

*Drooling like a mad man. This is my least favorite stage for sure. Everything is always wet. Yuck.

*Pooping is a production. It's loud and usually ends up with a change of clothes.

*He finally has a semblance of a schedule. We tried making his bed time 8:00 but that just wasn't working out. So he goes to bed at 7:30 (he's usually so tired he goes to bed asleep which I like), wakes up anywhere from 7-7:30 and gets a feeding.  Then he eats his barley at 8:00, bottles at 11 and 3, barley at 5:30 and then last feeding at 7:15.

*Napping? HA! He is boycotting napping now. The other day he took a total of an hour of naps all day. AN HOUR!!

*He is rolling around like crazy. And I miss it EVERY TIME. I have seen it once. I literally will sit with him for 20 minutes and as soon as I leave the room, he flops to his belly. He's usually on his belly when I get him out of bed in the morning.

*He's able to play in his excersaucer, not just stare at the toys.

*He's starting to play around with things that are put in front of him, too.

*He doesn't need the infant seat in the buggy at school! I will take a picture of it soon and post it. It's the cutest thing.

*He's starting to interact with his friends at school. One of his friends (Henry) was rolling around the room and was smothering him with kisses (and boogers) and he didn't care one bit. I wish I had my camera.

We are starting veggies this week (just did carrots today...more on that later.).

I love my little guy!

Dylan is the best pooper...

Dylan makes the greatest faces when he is pooping. Exhibit A (fast forward to about 30 seconds and then you see it twice...then it's over)...

Painting a rock for Oma

Last summer, all of the Rogers cousins painted a rock to put at Oma's headstone.  Opa gave us a rock to paint and we never got around to it...until this morning. Of course, Dylan is a pro at painting because of school :)

Like Mother, Like Son

Uh oh.......
